    Great Work Socks

Posted by Ruby on 2021 Jun 4th

I always buy Tuffy yarn to make work socks for my son. He’s a carpenter and these are the only socks he’ll wear in his work boots. They wash well without felting and the colours are attractive.

    Good

This is what I call “a hearty yarn”. Will be using to make mittens. Feels and looks like it will stand up to some outdoor abuse.

    good yarn

what you're getting with a reasonably priced skein of wool is a reasonable wool. it's not a malabrigo, but it's great for a pair of slippers, or mittens, or perhaps a cardigan. I am pleased with this yarn.v

    tough and hardy

I have only knit 3/4 of a sock and I already love this stuff. (tuffy sock boot pattern) This yarn is rough and my hands appreciate popping to a merino superwash for a break but this is great winter sock yarn. It knits a nice, tight fabric with good shape. The fibers fuse together so nicely. It's got tiny bits of straw stuff in it but it's honestly not that much and is totally fine. Recommend for this purpose.

The ery best wool for socks

Posted by Cecile Hinton on 2019 May 9th

My son in law says says socks knit with Tuffy are the only ones that keep his feet warm when he is working at his kiosk at the famous Jean-Talon market in Montreal and at the outdoor Christmas stalls during the winter in Quebec, and our winters are cold here!

Excellent utility wool yarn - Best Kind!

Posted by Jeanne on 2019 Jan 1st

This is my go to yarn for the warmest socks and mittens - Newfoundland and Labrador patterns. It will felt slightly with use and, in some cases, be waterproof. East coast fishermen have used mittens made from this wool for years. With prewashing, it is softer to work with. Very best quality!

    Cozy slippers

I make wool slippers with fleece lining knit right into them. I find the Tuffy yarn in any colour is the best. It has a percentage of nylon in it which makes th slippers wear longer.

Tuffy Yarn! A wonderful and practical combination of fibers!

Posted by Myreene on 2018 May 14th

This wonderful yarn has the reliable warmth of wool with the strength and durability of nylon! What a great combination! This yarn is a winner. I bought it to knit socks for a friend's husband and it is knitting up wonderfully. The price was also impressive and economical. The service of this company also needs notice. I ordered and boom it was in my mailbox. Great turnaround folks! I will be back here!
