    Amazing colour combinations

Posted by Unknown on 2020 Jun 30th

I have knit several items with noro kureyon, including baby blankets, sweaters, scarves and more. The makers of this yarn are geniuses with colour combinations. They are so unique, and make for such a beautiful finished product. Yes the yarn breaks easily if you pull on it, it’s 100% unprocessed wool so you have to be careful not to pull on it too hard, and to not to unravel and re-knit too many times, but a knit garment in this yarn will last a lifetime. I have a scarf and 2 sweaters that I knit 20 years ago, and they still look just as good today as when I first knit them. Highly recommend.

    disappointed

Unfortunately this yarn, though indicated to be a 4 weight, varied throughout the skeins from thick enough to be considered bulky to nearly thread-like which made for inconsistent sized stitches and thickness of garment. I gave up on using it because the item I was knitting looked worn through in some places because the yarn was much too light for the needle size I was using; in other spots it was too thick and bulky, especially if I was joining a new skein to my work. Also because of the varied colours, it was difficult to join yarn because the colours did not run in a repeated order but haphazardly so that I was not getting a nice repeat run of shades and colours but mismatched and unflattering long runs of some colours and even near-white patches of others. A very disappointing yarn to try to work with, especially since the photo sample gives a nice impression of consistent weight and colour variation.
