Hard wearing sock yarn
This slightly thicker than average sock yarn wears like iron. Two balls and you get two socks of pure awesome. If you're wanting socks that match however, stay away from FX or the stripes. Skeins are often wound opposite of one another, and sometimes color repeats in FX do not exist. Personally I love having mismatched socks.

Nice Gradient
I generally like gradient yarns but some better than others. This one has an attractive transition and the colours complement nicely. Kroy sock yarn in general is a favourite as it is easy to knit and wears like iron.
