One of Schacht’s most popular products, the Cricket Loom, is compact, super easy to work with and beautiful! Available in 10″ or 15″ weaving widths, the Cricket is made of high-quality maple plywood and hard maple. Schacht is known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail when it comes to making quality looms. Each is a work of art you’ll want out on display.
The Cricket comes with an 8-dent reed. We also have 5, 10, and 12-dent reeds that are sold separately (link below).
How does a rigid heddle loom make weaving fun and easy? When the heddle is moved from the neutral position to down or up positions, it creates a shed, or opening, where the weft can pass through. This makes weaving much quicker than picking each yarn up by hand as you would do with a frame loom.
10″ Weaving Width
At only 13″ x 18″ x 6″ and just under four pounds, it’s easy to take anywhere. The 10″ weaving width gives plenty of room to make a variety of projects without sacrificing portability. It’s an ideal size for a new weaver of any age. As of April 2010, the Cricket has been redesigned with the ratchet gear and dog on the outside of the loom to make it even easier to adjust tension.
15″ Weaving Width
The wider weaving width offers more flexibility in your choice of weaving projects, and is also portable. It uses the same reeds as the 15″ Flip folding rigid heddle loom.
