Piedras Rios Yarn (4 - Medium) by Malabrigo

Yarn is beautiful and arrived within 2 days of ordering it. My only difficulty with this particular brand is that each dye lot is so different that it is hard to get an idea of what you are ordering based on the picture from the website. My yarns had way more purple in them than I had anticipated. Still beautiful, but expect to be surprised whatever color you order! It is also slightly thinner than I expected, but knits up to gauge as indicated.

The photo is pretty accurate. The label says this yarn is "kettle dyed in small batches" and there is no dye lot number. For me, one of my yarn balls is lighter like in the middle of the photo. The other ball is noticeably darker, more like the right edge of the photo. So, if knitting a larger item, like a sweater, I would be prepared for a bit of colour variation. It will have handmade charm. It's a pleasure to work with. I never wound a ball from a hank before this one. So, I did a terrible job and it got knotted and it was frustrating. But, it was too beautiful to give up and I finally got it into a ball. Then I looked up on the internet how to do it. My second ball was easy. So, it's not hard to wind: it was just me. This 4-ply is consistent in thickness. it has a smooth, almost silky feel: very easy to work with. It has a soft shine. It knits up soft. Lovely.

This company does not produce a bad product! I'm in love with these colors and such a treat to work with. Warm enough for Canadian winters and soft wnough to wear against the skin.

I LOVE this yarn! The colour is gorgeous, and it works up easily. The drape is a bit stiff, but I can overlook it because it is so pretty!

The colour variations come out beautifully in woven stitch. Great quality, as always with this yarn.
